Our Rooms
Woodlands Nursery and Pre-school consists of two main rooms.
The first room you enter when visiting us is our main room is registered for 32 children over the age of two years.
It is a large airy colourful room which has recently been completely refurbished. It is arranged as dictated by the curriculum. Each child has their own tray, where parents can freely see their child work. We actively encourage you to take an interest in their progress. Each term the friezes are changed to reflect the terms topic and much of the work is done by the children at Woodlands.
The room has a small carpeted soft area where the children can sit and look at books, read for themselves or be read to. The Carpeted area is also moved around to make best use of the space as dictated by the curriculum. The main part of the flooring is non slip and is washed daily with antibacterial cleaner.
At the back of the room are patio doors which lead out to our garden. The garden is used all year round, has all sorts of equipment including a weather station, again all linked to the areas of learning. The children plant bulbs and seeds, again all linked to the curriculum.
Our second room at Woodland's is what we call the Baby Room. This room is registered for 6 children from the age of 5 weeks to 2 years.
The nursery staff at Woodlands in this room are specially chosen for their commitment to the care of babies and in the best interest of the babies, most of them work solely in this room. The staff follow the Birth to Three curriculum and the equipment the children play with is chosen in line with their abilties.
Once again it is a warm, colourful and stimulating room which also has a conservatory off the back of it. The conservatory contains the childrens cots. Each child has their own cot and bedding, which is changed daily.
The conservatory then leads out to an exclusive decked area where the children can play in safety, this then leads on to the baby rooms own lawned area. Both areas are fenced off to seperate them from the older children.
There are toilets off the entrance hall which are specialy constructed to be accesible to all the children. For Children that are not yet potty trained we have a changing area in the toilet at the rear of the main room.
